Several features of this codex indicate that it was produced in or around the government scriptorium community: the distinctive harags, the tooled leather (particularly the lines and bird’s eye stamps on the edges of the covers), the cleanly-cut text block, the well-trained hand, etc.

The inside front and back covers have three interesting characteristics: 1) the turn ins of the leather cover are finely fitted together and trimmed to form an oval-shaped area in the center, through which; 2) multi-colored paper shows (analogous to the colorful fabric that usually adorns this location in de luxe codices); and 3) the paper has areas torn off in ways that indicate there were possibly once mirrors pasted or glued onto the paper
