Origin
(dating on palaeographic grounds)
Provenance
Several features indicate a possible Beta ʾƎsrāʾel connection of this manuscript (see on the doxology on check the viewerfol. 1r , and note also the absence of trinitarian formulas integrated into the main text, and the absence of a cross or other decoration on the quarter cover). It is probable that the manuscript changed owners repeatedly, before it came into the possession of Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ . The manuscript had very probably belonged to a church in the Gondar↗ area, from where it was taken by Tewodros II and brought to Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ . It was then looted by the British Napier expedition in 1868.
